Appointment of New CEO

It is with great sadness that Vesta Property Services announces news of the recent passing of our founder, Chairman and CEO J. Frank Surface. Vesta has lost a visionary and innovative colleague as well as an amazing mentor and friend. He was a larger-than-life figure who brought his remarkable passion, experience, and energy to work every day. Frank leaves behind a strong Board and Executive leadership team, and we will continue to operate under his guiding principles as we carry the torch and fulfill Frank’s legacy at Vesta.

At its meeting on Monday, July 20, the Vesta Board of Directors unanimously approved the appointment of David Surface as Chief Executive Officer, effective immediately. David has been with Vesta since inception having previously served as its Vice President of Corporate Development beginning in 2010.

“I speak for the entire leadership team when I say that we are all deeply saddened by my father’s passing,” says David. “However, we look forward to honoring his legacy by continuing to build on the deep culture that he instilled in all of our associates that is honorable behavior, civility and superior service to our clients.”

In other actions, the Board elected Stephen Darby as Executive Board Chairman, effective immediately. Steve has served as a Vesta Board member since 2016 and Vice Chair since 2019.

Please keep Frank and his family in your thoughts and prayers. We will miss him each and every day, but his Eagle spirit will forever remain in our hearts and as the foundation of Vesta.
